Markets & Capacity

Capacity assembled around the obligation, not the other way around.

The desk places risk through Janus Assurance Re and a panel of domestic and international carriers, matched to the obligation, the jurisdiction, and the obligee's requirements.

How placements are structured

No single market writes everything well. Federal obligations require carriers listed on the Treasury's Circular 570 with underwriting limitations adequate to the penal sum. State obligations require admitted paper in the obligee's jurisdiction. Judicial obligations require markets comfortable with collateral structures. International and reverse-flow obligations require capacity that crosses borders without losing enforceability. The desk's work is matching each file to the market where it clears, on terms the principal can live with.

Janus Assurance Re. The firm's parent supplies reinsurance capacity and the balance sheet standing behind the desk, and enables consideration of obligations that conventional markets decline unread: financial guarantees, unusual manuscript forms, and cross-border structures.

The carrier panel. Domestic admitted carriers, Treasury-listed markets for federal work, and international capacity for obligations that reach beyond the fifty three U.S. jurisdictions the desk serves daily.

Security structures. Where an obligation's severity exceeds an applicant's standalone credit, the desk structures rather than declines: collateral in cash, irrevocable letters of credit, or U.S. Treasury securities; co-indemnity; joint control; and funds control on contract obligations. The structure is disclosed plainly before anyone signs anything.

Jurisdictional reach

The desk places obligations in all fifty states, the District of Columbia's neighboring jurisdictions notwithstanding their peculiarities, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands, and maintains the obligation-level detail, statutory penal sums, prescribed forms, and cancellation provisions, that multi-jurisdiction principals require. Where a client's needs cross the water, the group's international affiliates carry the file onward.
